At 10am Friday 18th August, a truckload of “snow” will be delivered to Preschool!
It will be lots of fun to play in it, make snowmen, snow angels and snowballs!
To keep warm, please send gumboots, gloves, a jacket and a hat with your child. We’ll go inside to warm up when we get cold but to make the most of it, we will need warm waterproof clothes.
Of course, you are welcome to come and join us and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate too.
It is a wonderful opportunity for the children (and perhaps some adults) to experience snow, perhaps for some for the first time!
It doesn’t usually snow in Auckland. About 6 years ago, snow was reported in downtown Auckland. But that was the first time in 72 years! So perhaps we can expect snow once in a lifetime in Auckland.
Doing something out of the ordinary is a great opportunity for learning. Snow time gives children the opportunity to learn about cold, slippery and crunchy. Also to build and be creative. It is also a great opportunity to practice putting on and off clothes.
